In 2000, Jenna decided to explore another form of movement, Ashtanga Yoga. Here, she found a peace that was unmatched by other forms of physical exercise. The asanas and pranayama made complete sense to her body and mind. Since then, she has continued to grow deeper in her personal practice, and it’s benefits have filtered into her daily life. The spiritual aspects of yoga have helped her grow as a person by bringing awareness to the True Self within. Jenna has been teaching yoga for the last 5 years. She received her yoga certification from Stephanie Keach, owner of Ashville Yoga Center in Asheville, NC.

Yoga greatly influenced Jenna’s relationship with bellydance. She now experiences the two as a sacred union. In fact, she views bellydance as a dance of yoga. She sees the body as a vessel whose purpose is to facilitate and release Divine energy thriving within us. The light asks that we surrender the vessel in order for change and transmutation to occur. Shiva and Shakti intertwine, dancing and breathing through us, taking us higher, causing us to awaken to the mystery of the Universe.

Jenna has been bellydancing steadily with fervor and passion for the last five years. Within this time, she has performed at a wide variety of events as a solo artist and with local bellydancing troupes. In addition, she helped create the experimental band Rom Neve, which later became Gypsy Rock Stars. She has been performing with Gypsy Rock Stars at festivals (Culturefest, FestivALL, Multifest, Summerfest, Regatta, etc.), fundraisers, Solstice Celebrations, birthday parties, bars, haflas, wedding receptions, etc. for the last four years.

Jenna continues to grow and develop as a dance artist. She enjoys adding innovative movements, theatrical expression, and inspiring ideas to her performances. She is able to incorporate a plethora of props in her show, including swords, fire fans, candles, parasols, and veils. Jenna finds excitement and creative inspiration in dreams, pleasure, pain, synchronicity, and the oddities of life. She looks to theater, art, music, the written word, and the Universe within for insight and imagination.

Currently, Jenna teaches bellydance and various forms of yoga styles throughout the Kanawha Valley. She is available for workshops, private lessons, public performances, bellygrams, and more.
